Victoria Track and Field Club and Pacific Athletics

2016 Track Season and Field Season

Date and Time: The 2016 track and field season runs from April 5th to the end of July. Practices are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-7:30 PM at UVIC Centennial Stadium.

Practice schedule: A practice schedule has been made up and has been posted on the Training Groups page.

Track and Field Meets: Our first meet is the Dogwood Meet on May 7th and 8th at UVIC Centennial Stadium. This is the meet that Vic Track puts on for the island series. Please stay tuned for volunteer opportunities. We need all parents and families to participate for the event to happen! Check the calendar of events page for dates of other island meets.

Note to Families: Great to see lots of new and returning athletes to our “try it” sessions recently. We are lucky to be working the PATH this year. We are looking forward to working with all the kids and getting the season up and running. Please be patient for the first week or so as we work to take care of scheduling etc. Once these are done we will work on bunker maintenance scheduling for parents as well as preparing for the first meet. That means sign-up sheets for volunteer shifts etc. Also if you are interested in learning about the events being taught at practice, feel free to participate with the coaches in helping rake sand, work the high jump bar, crowd control etc. It’s a good way to begin preparing for the meets.

Practice venue change! Please note Thursday April 7th practice will be at Oak Bay Track due to a rugby game at UVic Centennial Stadium. Oak Bay Track is located behind Oak Bay High School and access is from Goldsmith St, off Foul Bay Rd near Save On Foods.

A Message from the Board:  We are looking forward to the 2016 Dogwood Track and Field Meet in May 7th and 8th. It’s a wonderful opportunity for all of our athletes and athletes from other clubs. More hands on deck make for less work, so we encourage you to think about how you will help this year. Please let our volunteer coordinator, Allison Randall (speedymama@live.ca) know where you can help out. Right now, we are looking for someone who would solicit corporate sponsorships for the meet (eg. donating supplies etc.). Businesses can also contact us directly for partnerships.  Stay tuned for more information about the Dogwood and ways you can help!
Cheers and see you at the track!

We are all just a group of athletes, parents and supporters of all ages. PLEASE VOLUNTEER WITH YOUR CLUB!

ABOUT VICTORIA TRACK AND FIELD CLUB

Welcome to the website of the Victoria Track and Field Club. We are a non-profit competitive track and field club which has been in existence in Victoria for over 50 years. The club is involved in training athletes, coaches and officials in the Greater Victoria area.

The Victoria Track and Field Club is a registered society and we rely on our parents and volunteers to assist in the organization of club events and training.

Our club has two main training groups:

  • Track and Field is general track and field training for athletes ages 9 and older.
  • Pole Vault training goes on all year with indoor training at Oak Bay Secondary School in the fall and winter and outdoor training at Centennial Stadium at the University of Victoria in the spring and summer.

Our club is a member of the Vancouver Island Athletic Association [VIAA] which is an informal association of all the competitive track and field clubs located on Vancouver Island and Powell River [Zone 6]. Members assist the other clubs in hosting and officiating at the VIAA Track and Field Series ~ a series of 4 to 6 track meets held from April to June each year.
