JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Track and Field Training:  March 31st to August 1st

Training sessions for our Junior Development program are held at the Oak Bay High School track and field facility.

Sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the track.

Additional sessions may be scheduled for Saturday mornings throughout the season.

Additional sessions and locations will be posted on the site as our monthly schedules are set up.

Please note: we do NOT offer training in triple jump or hammer due to lack of facilities.

 
Cross Country and Conditioning:  September to April
In September club athletes move to cross country training and winter conditioning for those athletes not involved in school sports.

Sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at 6:30 pm at the Oak Bay track facility.


Additional sessions and locations will be posted on the site as our monthly schedules are set up.

 

MIDDLE DISTANCE GROUP [ADVANCED TRAINING GROUP]

Track and Field Training:  April to August 

This group includes middle distance, distance and racewalk athletes ages 14 and up. Training sessions for our middle distance training group are held at the Oak Bay High School track and field facility and at Centennial Stadium at the University of Victoria. Sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Oak Bay.

Additional sessions are held at 9:00 am on Saturdays and 6:30 pm on Mondays at UVIC. Additional sessions and locations will be posted on the site as our monthly schedules are set up. 

Head Coach for this program is Gord Bonwick.

Cross Country and Winter Training:  Septemberto April 

In September club athletes move to cross country training and winter conditioning for those athletes not involved in school sports.

This group includes middle distance, distance, cross country and racewalk athletes. Sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at 6:00 pm at the Oak Bay track facility.

 POLE VAULT PROGRAM

Pole Vault Outdoor Season:  April to October [date for moving to outdoor training is based on weather conditions]

Outdoor pole vault training is held at Centennial
Stadium at the University of Victoria during the spring and summer months.

Our vaulters train 4 days a week from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Days will vary from week to week based on the weather conditions and the events going on in the stadium.
 
Pole Vault Indoor Season:  November to April

Pole vault practices are held weekly in the small gymnasium at Oak Bay Secondary School on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 to 10:00 pm. Entrance is off of the school parking lot beside the Oak Bay Recreation Centre parking lot.


Weight training for the pole vault group is on Wednesdays from 5:00 to 6:00pm in the weight room next to the small gymnasium at Oak Bay Secondary School.


Track conditioning for the pole vault group is on the weekend [days and times vary based on the group and the weather] at the track behind Oak Bay Secondary School.

Racewalk Training

Training sessions for our Junior Development racewalk program are held at the Oak Bay High School track and field facility. Athletes interested in racewalk participate in the general track and field training and have additional training with Laura Bright, our racewalk coach.


Sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning at 6:00 pm at the Oak Bay Track during the track and field season.
