VIAA
Relay Forms and Information for 2010
The
VIAA member clubs have modified the relay rules for all VIAA Track
and Field Meets beginning in 2010. The rule changes will allow more
teams to run the relays without penalizing smaller clubs who may
not have enough members to form teams. Teams will be formed by a
Relay Coordinator and all athletes running will get credit for
participating in the VIAA relays regardless of the club name on the
team. Teams must be made up of athletes of the same gender in order
to earn points for the VIAA Relay Certificates. Mixed gender teams
can be formed but are ineligible for awards.
March 18, 2010:
Further
changes have been made to the age groups for the 2010
relays.

VIAA
and BCA QUICK REFERENCE CARDS
Quick
Reference Cards are a new project of the VIAA and the
BC Athletics Officials committee. Each event area is covered
and can be downloaded from this site. The cards have various uses
based on the level of official using them. They can be a training
tool for our VIAA volunteers who may not be familiar with an event
or wish to refresh the rules. The BC Athletics Officials Committee
plan on using them as the basis for Level 3 Officials clinics and
mentors can use the cards as a check list while they are mentoring
an official.
The
cards have been edited by a team of top officials from around the
province and our thanks go to them: Carol Cull, Kathy Terlicher,
Jackie Barrington, David Weicker, Peter Fejfar and Dale
Loewen. Not all of the cards are complete at this time but they
will be posted as soon as they are available.
The
cards are printed in landscape mode forming two columns on the
page. You can print off the page or pages and cut them down the
centre or you can simply fold them in half so that they fit
conveniently into a small book. Cards may be available later in a
laminated version for officiating in the rain!
Click on the card title to download a pdf version of each Quick
Reference Card.
